Clark Allison was born 1961 in Glasgow, Scotland and lived in the United States from 1983 to 1992. He has published a number of poems, essays and reviews in such places as Robert Sheppard’s ‘Pages’ blog, ‘Shearsman’ magazine, and Rupert Loydell’s ‘Stride’ webzine, as well as Lance Newman’s ‘3by3’ blog. This poem, ‘A Rebuilding Nation’ edits and resets Trump’s 2017 speech, interspersed with some of the same text reworked, and randomised, through ‘Cut up Machine’, an online utility. His method has been influenced by such experimental writers as MacLow and Burroughs.
